Guiding small businesses through tax-credit claims.
A mobile ERC experience for eligibility, payroll documents, and refund progress.
Project at a glance
4 months
Small businesses had to work through eligibility questions, payroll records, and financial steps to pursue an employee retention credit. The mobile experience needed to make each step—and what to do next—clear.
My contribution, team & tools
- Designed ERC Mobile App 2.6 from discovery through interactive prototyping.
- Combined product audit, stakeholder input, competitor review, and user-interview synthesis to shape the mobile flows.
- Created reusable interface patterns for qualification, payroll documents, status feedback, and financial dashboards.
The deck identifies user research, UX designers, UI designers, and an engineer. Tools listed: Figma, FigJam, Maze, Notion, Zeplin, Slack, and Google Analytics. Ownership by discipline and API delivery status are not detailed.
Discovery & research
The research approach, source material, and what can be substantiated.
Discovery combined a product audit, competitor review, stakeholder input, user interviews, flows, prototyping, usability testing, and iteration.
The deck includes a research blueprint and interview synthesis, but no participant counts or validated findings.
Make each financial step clear.
What I chose, why it mattered, and how it became an experience.
The core direction links eligibility, payroll documents, and refund progress in one mobile journey. Transactions, an Ernst & Young API connection, notifications, and expert chat also appear in the brief; delivery status is not documented.
Break qualification into focused steps
Guided business and employee questions lead to an initial estimate, helping people understand the process before moving into the document workflow.
Make document progress visible
Payroll records, upload states, confirmations, and connection errors each have a clear status and next action.
Build a consistent mobile foundation
Reusable, token-based components support forms and financial views across light and dark explorations. The prototype also explores data visualization, micro-interactions, haptic feedback, global styles, and voice UI; the brief lists an Ernst & Young API connection.

What the work produced and what can be supported by the available evidence.
A mobile-first claim flow spanning eligibility, payroll documents, financial views, and progress states.
The portfolio presentation reports outcomes for onboarding completion, dashboard comprehension, task success, claim processing, and development handoff. It does not document measurement details or launch status.
- 45%higher onboarding completion
- 30%better dashboard comprehension
- 25%higher task success
Two additional measures reported
- 40%faster refund-claim process
- 40%less developer handoff time
The percentages above are reported in the presentation. It does not supply baselines, sample sizes, metric definitions, measurement methods, dates, or launch status; treat these figures as deck-reported, not independently verified results.
